Wednesday. Went with Major Brown and party laying off and measuring for new levee at Orange Grove and Conway. They all took 11:15 am train to Baton Rouge. Wrote Union School Furniture Co., Chicago that the Dictionary and shelf had arrived.
Saturday. Much needed rain. Looking over old papers.
Monday. Wrote Mr. Chiapella returning draft signed on Mr. Value for $40,000 payable to Mutual Bank. Mr. Chiapella had telegraphed Mr. Value but received no answer. Told him to telegraph again.
