For the week of June 16, 1885

Wednesday.  Wrote Estes & Lauriat to send me, of the Audubon's Plates orders only 4 - Vis. "Canvas Backed Duck" - "Ruffled Grouse" - "Common Mocking Bird" and "Blue Jay" - making at $10 each $40.  Also to send me Lingard's History $27 and Prescott's Works (ed. deluxe) $55.  This would make a total of $122.  He'd sent them June 2nd (on birds) $64.  Leaving $58 due them for which I enclosed cheque. 
Thursday.  Wrote Mrs. Lefebore with cheque for $715.23 for children's clothes, etc.  Went to New Orleans on 4:50 pm train, reaching there about 7:15 pm.  Called on Belle Warley in evening.  Very good account of Miss Meta's prospects for her school in New York.
Friday.  To West End in evening, mosquitoes annoying.
Saturday.  To office.  Wrote Mr. Beirne about financial situation.  Wrote Mr. Value I would draw on him for $40,000 the first week in July and thereafter for $10,000 about every 10 days.  Returned home on 4:50 pm train.
Sunday.  Wrote Dr. James H. Harris - Dentist - 271 N. Eutaw St. Baltimore, with cheque for $29 for filling children's teeth.  Wrote Union School Co., 180 Wabash Ave. Chicago, inquiring about Dictionary purchased at expo, May 30th.
Monday.  Wrote Mayor Courtenay thanking him for "Year Book of Charleston," quite as replete with useful and interesting matter and complimenting him about them.
