For the week of April 14, 1885

Tuesday.  Went to New Orleans on 4 P.M. train to meet Richie and Governor Thompson.  Did not learn where they were staying (Hotel Royal) until too lat at night to call on them.
Wednesday. To Hotel Royal - went with the whole south Carolina party, who had come on from Columbia in Judge Haskell's car, to Exposition.  Party consists of Governor and Mrs. Thompson, Judge Haskell, wife and daughter, Dr. Talley and Mr. Craig.  Richie and I, of course, delighted to be together.  The Governor too was very glad to see me.  Gave the Governor and Mrs. Thompson and Richie a nice dinner at Madame Eugene's (Moreau's) which they all seemed to enjoy.  Turtle Soup, Soft Shell Crabs, Sweet Bread, Snipe, Strawberries, Cheese, Coffee.  Claret and Champagne - about $24.
Thursday.  Took the South Carolina party to the Burnside Mansion in New Orleans.  Went to Exposition with Richie.  He and the Governor and Mr. Chiapella dined with me at Victors's.  Richie came up to the Houmas with me on the 7:00 train.
