Cloudy.  Went to upper places.  Found they were carrying up the sugar house chimney with Harvey's new brick.  Advised with Major Dunn and directed the few coursed of red brick to be taken down and replaced with lake brick.  These are far more durable, being much harder and the difference in cost is not over $100.  It would moreover mar the appearance and harmony of the chimney to put 40 feet of different colored brick on the top.
