At Sweet Springs, WV
Talked with Nanny and Mr. & Mrs. Beirne about children.  I suggested as they all were entirely opposed to a governess that I should live in New Orleans instead of on the plantations and send the children to Miss Huger's school.  Mr. Beirne's objection to this is that my frequent absences in the country would leave the children too much alone in the town house at night.  That though that might be obviated by putting them at a boarding house in New Orleans the climate would be too trying for them having to remain from September or even October 1st to the end of June.  So I must reluctantly consent to an arrangement urged by their Grandpa, Aunt Sally and Aunt Nanny, and send them all to Mrs. Lefebore's in Baltimore.  Told Miss Peronneau of our determination, which of course distressed her, especially the parting from Linda.
