For the week of May 12, 1885

Tuesday.  Went over Aramant and St. James crops.  Very good, especially stubble, which seems to me better that at the Houmas.  Rather short of labor at these places, but hope to get enough in a few days.
Thursday.  Wrote Dodd, Mead and Company, 755 Broadway, New York, with a cheque for $5 for "Huguenot Emigration to America.

Friday.  Talked with Mr. Duline - the engaged Sugar Maker at New Hope.  Very intelligent.  He suggests good changes and I authorized them.
