Hot and sultry. We greatly need rain at Houmas places. Plenty at upper and lower places. Cane here, however, not yet really suffering - color good. Mr. Jim and Jonah Tucker came to say goodbye - having given them leave of abscence for about 10 days to visit Texas. Went to see Dr. Love in the afternoon.
