Went to New Orleans to attend Edward Koch's funeral. His brother, Mr. McCall, Mr. Cofield and myself accompanied the body on railroad. Put in vault in Metairie Cemetery after Roman Catholic burial service read by one of the Jesuit Fathers. At office after funeral. Wrote Mr. Beirne that it was utterly impossible for us to agree and that I could not personally arrange matter with Mr. Kenner for various reasons. Wrote Mrs. Beirne expressing regret at Mr. Beirne's sickness and hoping he was well again. Wrote Mr. Value acknowledging his letter informing me he had effected a loan of $80,000 on railroad bonds and put amount to my credit.
