Mardi Gras. Went with Sally to Mrs. Tilton's to see the Rex Procession and "40 Phunny Phellows" in morning and Comus Procession at night. Then to Comus Ball with Sally and Mrs. Beirne and Miss Chotard.
President Davis there. Made it a point to wait upon him in his box and pay him my respects - in view of the fact that "our relations were rather strained" at the end of the Confederacy. Misses Lee, Miss Jackson, Miss Davis all in the same box. Very brilliant ball - great crowd. Pretty well tired - having to stand nearly whole time.
