Clear - warm. Went to Orange Grove and Clark and Riverton with Mr. Jourdan who examined and measured bagasse burner and chimney at Clark and thinks them uncommonly fine and that it would be advisable to duplicate them at the Riverton. But chimney need not be so large - i.e. need not have such thick walls - though height had better be about the same, say 30 - 35 feet. He says the Clark chimney must have at least 125,000 bricks in it and the bagasse burner not less than 100,000. He will consult with Mr. Edwards in the city and than give us his estimate for the work. He returns by railroad tomorrow morning. He dined with me about 4 P.M. and we then went to Orange Grove and examined bagasse burner and chimney there.
