Clear - mild - windy - Visited corn boat which dropped down from Riverton to Houmas store yesterday afternoon.  Mr. Tucker getting out corn.  Nanny and Suzy went with me.  Then went to Clark and showed them the working of stubble digger.  Then drove to Orange Grove.  No work there - this being pay day of hands at store.  Went to Conway and Donaldson and Riverton.  Mr. Bateman uneasy about his fall cane.  Thinks a good deal of it dry-rotted.  I hope it may turn out better than he supposes it will.  On some of the other places there is some dry rot in fall planted cane.  But note of them except the Riverton planted much in fall.
