Slight rain at St. James last evening.  Mill working pretty well.  Cylinder not large enough and the fly wheel too light.  Determined to have rim put to it (if Leeds & Co. who made it think it expedient and safe).  Could not start grinding at Armant because ram would not work.  Told them to run mill without it.  The ram on St. James also not working.  At both places Mr. Larkin is blamed for the bad condition of things at sugar houses.  He will not do as "Chief Engineer" for 10 plantations.
