Clear, not so warm.  Went to Donaldsonville by appointment to meet General Brent and Judge Duffel in the matter of apportioning payment of lawyers fees by Mr. Beirne and Mr. Kenner in the Houmas Grant case (in which Supreme Court of the United States has given us additional land between 12 arpents and 80 arpents.  After a good deal of argument Judge directs a survey by competent surveyor of land between those two lines - with a view to make the amount of land acquired by each the basis of payment.  Suveyor to specify kinds of land, as arable, high and swamp as discrepancy in value will enter into his consideration in adjusting matter.
