Clear, pleasant.  Wrote Richie in reply telling him silver had come safely.  Mrs. Bierne, Nanny, Sally, Mr. Chiapella and I went to Baton Rouge on railroad at 10:30 a.m.
Ladies and myself drove about in a hack 2-1/2 hours and visited the state house and blind asylum, where we heard some excellent music on piano by a blind boy and saw some broom making.  Went to penitentiary but did not go into it.  Had a very good dinner at 3:30 p.m. at Capital Hotel.  Oyster soup - broiled red snapper - saratoga potatoes - green peas - spring chickens - asparagus - cheese - nuts & raisins - coffee - champagne.  All very good indeed.  Dinner $17.75 & servants tips.  Got home at 6:30 p.m.
