February 21, 1884, Thursday

at Columbia, SC
Delightful day.  Went to see Levin & Morrison.  Called on Miss Barnwell, Mrs. Singleton and Helen, Mrs. Cambrill.  Gave her the feather bed and table and little chair Miss Peronneau had left with her.  Directed Morrison to send 2 trunks of Miss Peronneau (in college library) to Richard's care.
Called on Governor Thompson.  He was very anxious for me to dine with him, but it was impossible.
Dined at restaurant - $2.25 - equal to Moreau's (in price, not style!).
Left for Charleston about 6 PM and reached there about 10:30 PM.  Met on train Mrs. Bacon and Mrs. Pickens.  Had not met the latter since the war.  Much pleasant talk with both of them.
