November 25, 1883, Sunday

Rainy morning.  Wrote Harper and Brothers for magazine sending cheque for $4 and saying we were glad they had ceased ridiculing and caricaturing the South as a depraved, uncivilized and abandoned place.
Dr. Love called in the morning.
Wrote Dodd, Mead & Co. and Charles Scribner's & Sons, inquiring price of books advertised in the Churchman.  Wrote Sally on her birthday, wishing her many happy returns of the day and sent her a cheque for $25 to buy a present.
