Clear - cold - slight frost - but not enough to touch the young cane - which is coming up well - both the fall planted and the stubble.
Visited levee in front of Orange Grove.  The driving of piles is at a stand still and I fear will have to stop on account of the rising water.  The general opinion is that the river has risen some 5 or 6 feet since low water in October.  No planting today.  Ground too wet from yesterday's rain.
Wrote Nancy, Suzy and Linda.  Wrote Richie (in reply) a long letter - 2 sheets.
